Climate change causes flash flooding

Thu, July 29, 2021

Parts of London received 47.8mm of rain over one 24-hour period in July – that is more than a month’s worth - causing flash floods across the capital. The average monthly rainfall in July is 44.5mm.

Residents were evacuated from their homes and train services cancelled, while cars were submerged in water. The London Fire Brigade said it had taken more than 1,000 calls related to flooding.

Whilst Flood Re: cover applies to properties which are occupied for residential purposes and where the policyholder or immediate family reside, we can arrange flood protection for owners of residential blocks or commercial properties.

Should traditional flood cover not be available, we can arrange Parametric Flood Insurance to protect against flood losses. Pay-out occurs swiftly once pre-agreed triggers occur, irrespective of damage.
